Medicare Part D Credible Coverage Notification Requirement

Each fall when Medicare's open enrollment begins, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires "notice of credible coverage" from all employers providing group healthcare to their employees. Specifically, employers must complete the template (click here) and distribute it to their employees participating in their group plans, including those receiving Medicare benefits.

Because Medicare's open enrollment ends on December 7th each year, the notification needs to be distributed as soon as possible in October to enable employees who are eligible for Medicare to have sufficient time to react.
